Certifications VS Degrees

During the times of inflation when even primary education is costing a hand and a leg, higher and university level education is out of the question for many people. And for many people who can actually afford it are changing their perspectives from getting degrees to just getting well known certifications.

For those who cannot afford it, getting certifications is definitely a good cheap option but in Pakistan the difference between a well paid and not so well paid employee is difference in their education. Two competitive employees doing the same work but one having a professional degree than the other one always wins the race, even if the other employee is better than them.

Similarly, if you do have a degree but from a government university, the system gets biased in that situation as well.

I get why certifications are attractive, they are affordable and you learn a lot, but in a country like Pakistan I don't think anybody can thrive through just those.
