Working women of Pakistan

Did you know that according to the study conducted by the UN in 2023, the percentage of working women in Pakistan is as low as 26% compared to men which is 84%.

One of the biggest reasons why there’s such a huge difference between men and women is the lack of resources for female workers. Another reason being the society's pressure over women only, to prioritize family over anything, even their own self.

Even if a woman wants to work full time, even after getting married, having kids which is totally her decision, the lack of available resources and support, makes it impossible for them to continue.

Most of the working mothers I know are working due to financial restraints and the minority of those working mothers have the luxury and benefits of working from home, flexible timings and supportive working environment.

Women are also taking the highest burden of unpaid work. The distribution of employed workers by employment status reveals that more than half (55%) of employed women were working as unpaid workers compared to 10% of employed men. Overall, 21% of workers are unpaid/ contributing family/ non-family workers and 19% of female and 40% of male workers were self-employed

Women of Pakistan have two things in abundance: excellent soft and hard skills and the ability of getting fooled way too easily.

Women of Pakistan are desperate enough to work for free, but at the same time doubting their own selves if they can make it on their own.

It's high time that Women in Pakistan start realizing their own potential and learn how to benefit from their own skills, for their own good
